Uncle Reefus is a retired plumber. He spent forty years working on other people’s pipes. Today he is working on filling his own. He has got his chair, he is bagging rays, and his dog is out on his surfboard doing his thing. Smogie surfs. He stands up on the board like a person, he takes the little ones, and he has not wiped out yet.

Then the lifeguard came down off his stand and asked him to grab some weed while he was out. Seven damp dollars, counted into his hand one bill at a time. Seven dollars does not go far at a dispensary.

He did not say yes. He did not say no. He just gave the Uncle Reefus nod. Now the money was in his hand, it was an errand.

It should take twenty minutes. Easy.

But that is not the way a bud run works.

BUD RUN is the first volume of The Stoney Adventures of Uncle Reefus & Smogie, an adult stoner comedy told as a full color picture book. Thirty-three illustrated pages, a chapter to a page, narrated by a man who has lived in that town a long time and knows every story in it. He is going to tell you some of them.

The book comes with the whole town. A map of Baytown, the town’s history, the menu at Dan’s Dope Dispensary, and some Baytonians with their names, their business, and more.

If you smoke, this is your town. If you do not, it is still a funny place full of people worth knowing.
